I am from Fredericksburg Texas, and grew up riding bareback on moonlit nights and taking my horse swimming on hot summer days. My soul is the lightest on horseback in the hill country, with cicadas buzzing and cool spring water inviting. So many Texans can’t stand our summer heat, but I love the scorching days because on the worst of them I always seem to find myself in creeks and rivers. The cool water and the summer sounds never fail to transport me to a state of nostalgia, a sort of energized placidity mixed with a sense of possibility, and to a reservoir of memories of so many of my very best days.
I wish I could remember every minute with every one of these people. They are the reason I am who I am, and they are the reason I care so deeply about what I do. I am all about the hugs and laughter and tears and moments, and I will work my ass off for you, because I know how important and irreplaceable every little second of this life is.
